Settings for using the campus-wide wireless LAN base stations


  1. Turn on the wireless function of your computer.
    • See the manual of your wireless LAN card for instructions on how to install the driver (this operation only needs to be done once).
  2. Connect to a campus-wide wireless LAN base station
    • Setting the campus-wide wireless LAN base station name (ESS-ID)
    • Setting the encryption key (WEP Key/WPA password)

    (1)When you are configuring your computer to use all the wireless LAN base stations including those installed in the fiscal year of 2009.
    use the conventional method (IEEE802.11b, IEEE802.11g)

    Set the 【ESS-ID and WEP Key】 listed in (i) below.

     (For security reasons, the ESS-ID and WEP key are changed at irregular intervals.)

    (2)When you are configuring the system to use only those campus-wide wireless LAN base stations installed in the fiscal year of 2009.
    We recommend the following connection settings if the ESS-ID in (ii) below is displayed in the wireless network list.
    ●If your wireless LAN card is IEEE802.11b or IEEE802.11g compatible
    Using the WPA password, you can use a more secure connection than that of setting (1) above.
    ●If your wireless LAN card is IEEE802.11n compatible
    You can use the faster IEEE802.11n connection.

    Set the ESS-ID and WPA password listed in (ii) below.
