Questions about the computers in the university computer rooms

Q:The following message appears when I open an OpenOffice file. What should I do?

Due to an unexpected error, OpenOffice.org has crashed.
All files that you were working on have been saved.
These files will be recovered automatically the next time OpenOffice.org starts.

A:Perhaps your OpenOffice settings file is corrupted. We suggest to delete your settings file.

The procedure to delete the file is as follows (for Windows XP).

  1. Log on to Windows.

2. Delete or change the name of OpenOffice.org folder in your My Document folder.

3. Log off.

4. Log on again. Then, a default setting file will be created automatically.

For VineLinux, the setting information is stored in the ".openoffice" directory in your  home directory. As with Windows, delete the .openoffice directory or change its name.
